About the Role :

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead for a 4-month contract engagement at our Noida office. High-performing candidates will be considered for extension based on delivery outcomes and business needs.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design and operationalize the enterprise data governance framework - including policies, standards, data ownership models, and stewardship councils - aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements.

- Define and enforce data quality dimensions across critical data domains and own the DQ metrics and reporting dashboard.

- Lead implementation of the data catalog, business glossary, and data lineage capabilities to support self-service and data discoverability.

- Partner with legal, compliance, and risk teams to ensure adherence to GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and internal data privacy policies.

- Establish and chair the Data Governance Council, driving accountability among data owners and stewards across cross-functional working groups.

- Collaborate with data engineering teams to embed automated data quality checks and validation rules into pipelines and ingestion workflows.

- Drive data literacy through training programs, playbooks, and enablement resources across business functions.

- Manage and mentor a team of data stewards and quality analysts, fostering a high-performance culture.

Qualifications :

Required :

- 8+ years in data management, with at least 3 years leading governance or data quality programs.

- Proven experience building governance operating models from the ground up.

- Hands-on experience with data catalog/governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview, or equivalent).

- Strong knowledge of DQ frameworks and profiling/monitoring tools (Great Expectations, dbt, Monte Carlo, Soda).

- Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and their practical governance implications.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred :

- CDMP or equivalent DAMA certification.

- Experience with cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt).

- Exposure to MDM, data mesh, or data fabric concepts.

- Background in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, life sciences).

- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data profiling and quality automation.
