Description :

We are looking for a highly motivated Architect who can lead the design and development of Flipkart's next-generation data platform. This role requires deep technical expertise in building and scaling distributed systems, a strong problem-solving mindset, a passion for data engineering and a skill set to work on, make code changes and debug open-source tech stacks.

Responsibilities :

- Architect and design scalable and fault-tolerant batch and stream data processing systems.

- Lead technical strategy for the evolution of the data platform to meet growing business and analytical demands.

- Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to define and implement efficient data flows and schemas.

- Provide architectural guidance and hands-on support across technologies like Apache Spark, Flink, Hive, Iceberg, GCP Pub/Sub, BigQuery, BigTable, GCS, and BigLake.

- Ensure high reliability, availability, and performance of data pipelines.

- Champion best practices in data modelling, data quality, and system reliability.

- Drive adoption of modern data lake and data mesh principles where applicable.

- Mentor senior engineers and review critical architectural decisions and code.

Requirements :

- 12+ years of experience in software engineering.

- Deep understanding of distributed systems, streaming architectures, and cloud-native data solutions.

- Proven expertise in Apache Spark, Flink, and working with cloud-based data ecosystems (preferably GCP).

- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg or similar open table formats.

- Excellent problem-solving skills, architectural judgment, and ability to work across teams.

- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across teams and levels.
