Cognizant - Base24 Classic Developer - Payment/Transaction Processing System

Role Overview :

We are looking for an experienced Base24 Classic Developer with strong hands-on expertise in BASE24 payment processing applications. The role will involve development, customization, enhancement, troubleshooting, and production support of BASE24 Classic applications used in high-volume transaction processing environments.

Key Responsibilities :

- Develop, customize, enhance, and maintain BASE24 Classic applications.

- Work on payment transaction processing and related application components.

- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective solutions.

- Develop and modify application programs, transaction flows, interfaces, and related components.

- Troubleshoot application issues across development, testing, and production environments.

- Perform code analysis, debugging, testing, and defect resolution.

- Support integration of BASE24 with ATMs, POS systems, switches, core banking systems, card networks, and other payment platforms.

- Analyze transaction failures, message-processing issues, and system exceptions.

- Work closely with functional, QA, infrastructure, and production support teams.

- Participate in application upgrades, enhancements, migrations, and deployment activities.

- Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and deployment/support documents.

- Perform impact analysis for application changes and ensure adherence to development standards.

- Support production issues and provide timely resolution for critical payment-processing problems.

- Participate in testing, including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and production validation.

- Contribute to performance improvements and overall stability of BASE24 applications.

Required Skills :

- 57 years of relevant experience in BASE24 Classic development.

- Strong hands-on experience with BASE24 Classic application development and customization.

- Good understanding of payment switching and transaction-processing environments.

- Experience working with ATM, POS, card, and electronic payment transaction flows.

- Strong programming experience in technologies used in BASE24 Classic environments, including TAL/COBOL as applicable.

- Experience with HP NonStop/Tandem environments.

- Good knowledge of SQL and database concepts.

- Experience with production troubleshooting, debugging, and incident resolution.

- Understanding of ISO 8583 and payment messaging standards.

- Experience with interfaces and integrations between BASE24 and external payment systems.

- Good understanding of software development and release processes.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good to Have :

- Experience with BASE24 Classic implementation or migration projects.

- Knowledge of ATM/POS switch architecture.

- Experience with payment networks, card processing, authorization, settlement, and reconciliation.

- Exposure to BASE24 configuration and transaction routing.

- Experience in banking, financial services, cards, payments, or transaction-processing environments.

- Knowledge of HP NonStop system administration or operational processes.
