Coca Cola - Database Architect - SQL Server & Azure

About the Role :

We are looking for an experienced Database Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of our enterprise database landscape across on-premises and Azure cloud platforms.

This role demands a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on technical expertise to build scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database platforms align with business goals, compliance requirements, and modern cloud architecture standards-especially within high-volume, transaction-heavy industries like FMCG, Food, and Beverage.

Architecture & Design :

- Define and maintain enterprise database architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices.

- Design scalable, resilient, and high-performance database systems using SQL Server and Azure.

- Drive database modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption and hybrid architecture models.

Cloud & Azure :

- Architect solutions leveraging Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.

- Optimize cloud usage for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

- Enable adoption of automation and cloud-native database capabilities.

- Design and govern HA/DR solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, clustering, backup/recovery, and geo-replication.

- Ensure business continuity and disaster readiness for mission-critical systems.

- Establish best practices for query tuning, indexing, and database performance optimization.

- Guide engineering teams in resolving complex performance and scalability challenges.

Security & Compliance :

- Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.

Governance & Standards :

- Define governance frameworks for database lifecycle, change management, and version control.

- Conduct architecture reviews and ensure adherence to enterprise standards.

Stakeholder Collaboration :

- Work closely with application, cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams.

- Act as a technical advisor for database-related decisions and solution designs.

Incident Management :

- Provide leadership during critical production incidents and escalations.

- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

- 8 to 15 years of experience in database architecture, design, and administration.

- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2012/2016/2019/2022).

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure database services.

- Deep understanding of HA/DR architectures (Always On, clustering, replication).

- Strong skills in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.

- Expertise in database security, encryption, and compliance.

- Experience in cloud migration and hybrid database environments.

- Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and automation practices.

- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Background :

- Experience working in FMCG / Food / Beverage industries, handling high-volume transactional systems, supply chain data, or distribution platforms.

- Understanding of ERP systems, retail/distribution data flows, or manufacturing systems is a strong advantage.
