Role : SOX Scrum Master.
We are seeking a highly capable and practical Scrum Master to guide the execution of our Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance Program initiatives.
This specialized role is critical to ensuring our compliance efforts are tracked, delivered on time, and meet the highest quality standards. Your work will involve coordinating across multiple departments to manage controls documentation, testing, remediation, and reporting required for annual SOX certification.
Your main goal is to be a leader who helps cross-functional teams deliver all SOX-related milestones efficiently and effectively. You will do this by skillfully applying Agile and Scrum principles to the predictable, but often complex, timeline of internal audit and compliance projects.
Qualifications & Skills :
Required (Must-Haves) :
- Expert-level knowledge of Agile/Scrum concepts, practices, and theory.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to interact confidently and effectively with executive management, auditors, and technical control owners.
- Clear experience within a large, complex corporate or IT department environment.
- Expertise in Agile management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) or ITIL concepts.
Preferred (Nice-to-Haves) :
- Familiarity with IT General Controls (ITGCs), IT Service Management (ITSM)/ITIL concepts, and how they relate to compliance work.
- Prior experience or familiarity with the SOX compliance lifecycle (control design, testing,
remediation).
- Experience with Kanban or a blended Scrum/Kanban approach for managing continuous flow
tasks.
- Valid Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM I/II, or equivalent).
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as the Scrum Master for SOX compliance and internal audit initiatives, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of all program milestones.
- Plan, track, and facilitate SOX activities including control design, documentation, testing, remediation, and reporting.
- Apply Agile and Scrum principles to manage predictable yet complex compliance timelines.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and
Retrospectives, tailored to compliance workflows.
- Remove impediments and proactively manage risks impacting SOX deliverables.
- Coordinate across IT, Internal Audit, Compliance, Finance, and business stakeholders.
- Act as a key liaison between control owners, auditors, and executive leadership.
- Maintain accurate project tracking and reporting using Agile management tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Promote continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability across the SOX program.
