Job Description

Role Overview :

The CTO owns ERP architecture, the POS network, RFID based inventory management, digital commerce, data analytics, CRM technology, cybersecurity and compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. The role calls for someone who selects the right stack for a jewellery business rather than importing a generic retail technology playbook.

Key Responsibilities :

- Select, configure and deploy a jewellery-specific ERP across all stores and HQ functions, covering inventory, billing, purchase, accounts and franchise P&L consolidation.

- Ensure the ERP supports multi-state, multi-format operations with real-time data integrity.

- Own ERP adoption, including training and change management, in close partnership with the Chief Transformation Officer and COO.

- Build and maintain the POS network across all stores, covering billing accuracy, multi-state GST compliance, old gold exchange documentation and daily reconciliation.

- Lead RFID deployment across all stores and the central warehouse, targeting fully tagged inventory, automated daily reconciliation and real-time shrinkage alerts.

- Treat the integrity of the gold inventory system as a financial and audit-critical responsibility rather than a purely technical one.

- Develop the digital commerce strategy with the CMO, defining the role of e-commerce in a category where most purchases remain physical.

- Build store-level BI dashboards for revenue, margin, conversion and shrinkage, available to the COO, VP Operations and Area Managers.

- Implement demand forecasting for merchandise planning and build customer analytics that support CRM personalisation.

- Own cybersecurity architecture across all stores and HQ, including endpoint security, network protection and incident response.

- Lead DPDP Act compliance, covering data inventory, consent management and breach notification protocols.

- Build and lead the technology team, and maintain a rolling three-year technology roadmap.

Qualifications & Experience :

- 12 to 18 years in technology leadership, including at least 4 years in a CTO or equivalent role.

- Retail technology experience essential, with jewellery-specific ERP and RFID experience strongly preferred.

- Hands-on understanding of POS systems, ERP architecture and RFID infrastructure.

- Working knowledge of DPDP Act requirements and data governance frameworks.

- Graduate degree in computer science or engineering; post-graduate qualification preferred.

Key Competencies :

- Pragmatic judgement - picks the right tool for the business context rather than the most architecturally elegant one.

- Operational empathy - understands that a POS failure at peak hours is a P&L event, not simply an IT ticket.

- Security mindset - treats customer and inventory data as assets requiring active protection.

- Vendor discipline - holds vendors to service levels and escalates firmly when standards slip.

- Build-versus-buy judgement - knows when to configure commercial software and when to build, with a bias towards proven solutions in a scaling business.
