Role Overview :

We are seeking a Technical Backend Advisor / Architect with deep expertise in real-time messaging systems.

This role is not purely hands-on development.

Instead, you will :

- Design and strategize backend architecture

- Supervise backend engineers

- Review, approve, and merge production code

- Set best practices and technical standards

You must have previously designed, built, and scaled messaging or communication systems in production.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Define and own the real-time backend architecture.

2. Design scalable Socket.IO/WebSocket infrastructure.

Establish patterns for :

1. Message acknowledgements

2. Reconnection logic

3. Delivery guarantees

4. Multi-tenant workspace isolation

5. Design horizontal scaling strategies (Redis adapter, stateless services, load balancing).

Technical Leadership & Supervision :

1. Supervise backend engineers and review their implementation.

2. Merge code into the main branch after technical validation.

Set standards for :

1. Code quality

2. Testing

3. Error handling

4. Performance optimization

4. Guide DevOps and cloud engineers on deployment best practices.

5. Reliability & Scalability Oversight

6. Ensure proper message persistence and ordering.

7. Validate system resilience under failure scenarios.

8. Review load testing strategies.

Required Experience :

- 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.

- Proven experience architecting and scaling real-time messaging or communication platforms.

- Deep expertise in :

A. Socket.IO or WebSockets

B. Event-driven systems

C. Distributed systems design

D. Message delivery guarantees

E. Experience supervising engineers and reviewing production code.

- Strong understanding of :

A. Horizontal scaling

B. Redis adapters

C. Stateless microservices

Nice to Have :

- Experience with WebRTC or voice/audio-based systems.

- Experience building collaboration or chat platforms.

- Startup or early-stage product experience.

- Experience scaling systems to thousands of concurrent connections.
