Beem - Director of Engineering

Role Overview :

We are looking for an exceptional Director of Engineering to partner directly with our CTO in scaling Beem into a next-generation AI agentic platform.

This role blends :

- Strategic leadership (30%)

- Team building & mentorship (30%)

- Hands-on technical contribution (40%)

You will lead the architecture and development of sophisticated multi-agent AI systems powered by MCP, RAG frameworks, and specialized AI agents, while scaling a high-growth consumer fintech platform.

This is a 100% remote role for a senior technical leader experienced in fintech, startups and D2C consumer applications.

What Youll Build :

AI Agent Platform :

- Design multi-agent systems with orchestration, shared memory, and agent communication.

- Build specialized AI agents (JobsGPT, DealsGPT, PriceGPT, BudgetGPT).

- Implement advanced RAG and context-management systems.

- Integrate multiple LLM providers (OpenAI, Claude, Bedrock).

Core Platform & Infrastructure :

- TypeScript/Node.js serverless backend on AWS.

- High-scale payment processing (OCT/AFT, ACH, crypto readiness).

- Distributed systems supporting millions of transactions.

- Real-time retrieval and intelligent caching systems.

Platform Scaling & Compliance :

- Architect infrastructure for 100M+ users.

- Maintain sub-second performance at scale.

- Ensure SOC2, PCI DSS, and NACHA compliance.

- Build resilient payment and financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategic Leadership :

- Define and execute engineering vision with CTO.

- Own architecture decisions across AI, payments, and platform scaling.

- Align technical roadmap with business growth.

Hands-On Engineering :

- Build core components of AI agent orchestration.

- Design RAG-based memory systems and integrations.

- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.

- Lead architecture reviews and incident response.

Team Development :

- Scale engineering team from 15 ? 30+ engineers.

- Mentor senior engineers and establish technical standards.

- Build strong engineering culture and processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration :

- Partner with Product, Data Science, Compliance, and Business teams.

- Support technical due diligence and strategic partnerships.

- Present technical strategy to executive leadership.

Required Qualifications :

- 10+ years software engineering experience.

- 5+ years engineering leadership experience.

- Expert-level TypeScript / Node.js in production environments.

- Experience building microservices or serverless architectures on AWS.

- Hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, LLMs, or agent-based architectures.

- Proven success scaling B2C fintech platforms.

- Strong distributed systems and event-driven architecture experience.

- Startup and D2C product experience (must-have).

- Fintech domain experience (payments, credit, or banking systems).

Highly Valued Experience :

- RAG, vector databases, or agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, etc.)

- Payment infrastructure and banking integrations.

- Fraud, risk, or credit scoring systems.

- MLOps and model deployment.

- Managing distributed remote engineering teams.

- International product scaling.
