Role Overview :

Data Architect is responsible for leading the design, build, and delivery of enterprise data solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role combines technical expertise in Azure data services with strong delivery leadership, stakeholder management, and data governance oversight. You will oversee Azure-based data platforms, ensure scalable and secure architecture, and manage cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact analytics and reporting solutions.

Responsibilities :

Azure Data Program Delivery :

- Own the end-to-end delivery of Azure-based data initiatives, from design through deployment and support.

- Design and implement scalable data solutions by inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data structures.

- Demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in Azure cloud services, SQL, integration toolsets, and Power BI.

- Take full accountability for the development, delivery, and documentation of data management and BI solutions, including analytics, reporting, and dashboards.

- Monitor and optimize BI tools and data integrations to ensure high performance and reliability.

- Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery aligned with defined standards and business expectations.

- Collaborate with architecture and solution delivery teams to implement sustainable BI and data applications with long-term business value.

- Support enterprise data storage and integration solutions, including databases, data warehouses, and BI platforms.

Azure Technical Leadership :

- Oversee architecture and implementation using Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance, Fabric & Power BI.

- Ensure best practices in Data modeling (star/snowflake schema), ETL/ELT design, Performance optimization, CI/CD for data pipelines (Azure DevOps).

Stakeholder & Business Engagement :

- Translate business requirements into scalable and secure Azure data solutions.

- Collect, analyze, and document data requirements, producing conceptual and technical design documentation.

- Facilitate discovery sessions and requirements workshops using interviews, process analysis, use cases, workflow modeling, and stakeholder discussions.

- Provide regular delivery updates and risk reporting to senior leadership.

- Align data initiatives with enterprise architecture and cloud strategy.

- Identify opportunities to enhance business value through advanced analytics and data insights.

Governance, Security & Compliance :

- Implement Azure data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

- Ensure adherence to PII regulations and enterprise data protection policies.

- Establish and oversee data quality monitoring and validation processes.

- Maintain data dictionary, data mapping, lineage documentation, and transformation logic with strong attention to data integrity and accuracy.

Team Leadership :

- Lead and manage onshore and offshore data delivery teams.

- Deliver BI metrics, reports, data conversions, and transformation solutions.

- Support Agile ceremonies and sprint planning activities.

- Mentor team members and promote standard operating procedures and best practices.

- Manage third-party vendors and ensure delivery accountability.

Requirements :

1. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

2. 8+ years of experience with Microsoft Data Platforms, including SQL Server Databases, Reporting platforms, ETL and T-SQL.

3. 8+ years of experience working in Agile environments, Azure Cloud, and Azure Data Warehousing solutions.

4. 6+ years of experience in data ingestion, processing, transformation, and publishing methodologies.

5. Strong understanding of data engineering principles, architecture patterns, and best practices.

6. Expertise in data modeling techniques (normalized, dimensional, star, snowflake schemas).

7. Deep understanding of RDBMS operations and SQL Server performance optimization.

8. Experience extracting and integrating data from structured (RDBMS) and unstructured sources (flat files, external feeds).

9. Proficiency in query optimization, performance profiling, and monitoring tools.

10. Experience creating and maintaining business requirements documentation and technical specifications.

11. Proven leadership experience managing engineering or data teams.
