Job Summary :

We are seeking a talented and experienced AWS Platform Engineer with a strong background in Python to join our core engineering team.

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, automating, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Key Responsibilities :

AWS Infrastructure Design & Implementation :

- Design, provision, and manage core AWS infrastructure components including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, and Route53.

- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation or Terraform to ensure consistent and reproducible environments.

- Implement and manage networking components (VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs, Direct Connect/VPN) for secure and efficient connectivity.

Automation & Tooling with Python :

- Develop comprehensive automation scripts and tools using Python (leveraging boto3) to streamline operational tasks, infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and system configurations.

- Build serverless functions (AWS Lambda with Python) for event-driven automation, data processing, and API integrations.

- Contribute to the development of internal libraries and frameworks that enhance our cloud operations and developer experience.

CI/CD Pipeline Development :

- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using AWS native services (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) or third-party tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) to automate application deployments and infrastructure changes.

- Integrate security scanning, testing, and quality gates into automated pipelines.

Monitoring, Logging & Alerting :

- Implement and manage robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and potentially third-party tools like Splunk or Prometheus/Grafana.

- Develop custom Python scripts and Lambda functions to gather metrics, process logs, and trigger alerts for critical events.

Security & Compliance :

- Implement and enforce AWS security best practices, including IAM roles and policies, security groups, KMS, and WAF configurations.

- Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.

- Automate security audits and remediation tasks using Python.

Performance & Cost Optimization :

- Monitor and analyse AWS resource utilization to identify opportunities for performance improvement and cost optimization.

- Implement auto-scaling strategies and resource tagging for better management.

Collaboration & Support :

- Collaborate closely with software development teams to understand their infrastructure needs and provide guidance on AWS best practices.

- Provide operational support, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

- Create and maintain clear, concise documentation for all infrastructure, automation, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications :

- Experience : 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or a similar role, with a strong focus on AWS.

- AWS Expertise : Deep understanding and practical experience with a broad range of AWS services (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route53).

- Python Proficiency : Expert-level Python programming skills, including experience with boto3 and developing automation scripts, tools, and serverless applications.

- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Proven experience with CloudFormation or Terraform for managing AWS resources.

- Networking : Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPC, subnets, routing, security groups, DNS, load balancing).

- Linux : Strong command-line proficiency and experience with Linux operating systems.

- Version Control : Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows.

- CI/CD : Experience designing and implementing automated CI/CD pipelines.

Nice-to-Haves :

- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, ECS, EKS).

- Experience with database administration (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL).

- Knowledge of monitoring and logging platforms beyond AWS native tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

- Experience with serverless frameworks (e.g., Serverless Framework, SAM).

- Experience in a highly regulated environment or with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
