Role Overview :

We are looking for a highly skilled Automation Engineer with strong expertise in DevOps, scripting, and infrastructure automation, combined with working knowledge of enterprise backup and data protection platforms.

This role focuses on building automation frameworks, pipelines, and self-service capabilities for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations - moving away from manual administration to fully automated, scalable systems.

Key Responsibilities :

Automation & Development (Primary Focus) :

- Design and develop automation solutions using Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages

- Build and manage Ansible playbooks / automation frameworks for :

1. Backup configuration

2. Policy creation

3. Restore workflows

- Develop self-service automation tools for backup and recovery operations

- Integrate backup platforms with REST APIs for automation and orchestration

CI/CD & Pipeline Engineering :

- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI) for :

1. Backup validation

2. DR testing workflows

3. Infrastructure provisioning

- Automate deployment and configuration of backup environments

- Ensure version control and automation lifecycle using Git

Infrastructure as Code (IaC) :

- Develop and manage infrastructure using :

1. Terraform / Ansible

Automate provisioning of :

1. Backup servers

2. Storage configurations

3. Cloud backup resources

Backup & Data Protection (Secondary Focus) :

Work with enterprise tools like :

- Veritas NetBackup

- Commvault

- Cohesity

- Veeam

Automate :

- Backup job creation

- Policy management

- DR drills and failover testing

- Implement immutable backups and cyber resilience solutions

Monitoring & Optimization :

Build automation for :

- Backup monitoring

- Alerting & self-healing workflows

- Improve backup success rates and reduce manual intervention

- Optimize backup performance, storage, and cost using automation

Mandatory Skills :

Core (Must Have) :

- Strong Python scripting (hands-on development)

- Experience with Ansible (Playbooks, Roles, Automation frameworks)

- Hands-on CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI)

- Experience with REST API integration and automation

- Strong knowledge of Git (version control)

Infrastructure & Cloud :

- Experience with Terraform (preferred)

- Exposure to AWS / Azure / GCP

- Understanding of Linux systems and shell scripting

Backup Domain (Important but Secondary) :

- Hands-on experience with at least one : NetBackup / Commvault / Cohesity / Veeam

Understanding of :

- Backup policies

- Retention strategies

- DR (RPO/RTO concepts)

Good to Have :

- Experience in BFSI / Financial domain

- Exposure to Kubernetes / Containers

- Knowledge of event-driven automation (Kafka, MQ, etc.)

- Experience in self-healing systems / AIOps
