Job Summary :

We are looking for an experienced Unisys Mainframe Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in developing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting applications running on Unisys Mainframe environments.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Unisys mainframe technologies, COBOL programming, batch processing, database systems, production support, and end-to-end SDLC. The candidate will work closely with business analysts, technical teams, QA teams, and production support teams to deliver reliable and high-quality mainframe solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications on Unisys Mainframe platforms.

- Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

- Develop and maintain COBOL programs for batch and online processing.

- Perform program modifications, enhancements, bug fixes, and impact analysis.

- Develop and maintain batch jobs, JCL/scripts, job streams, and production schedules as applicable to the Unisys environment.

- Work with database and file-processing systems used by mainframe applications.

- Develop efficient programs for high-volume transaction and batch processing.

- Perform unit testing, system integration testing support, and defect resolution.

- Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent fixes.

- Monitor batch processing and resolve job failures and application-related issues.

- Participate in application deployment and release activities.

- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development and coding standards.

- Prepare technical documentation, program specifications, and support documents.

- Collaborate with QA teams to prepare test scenarios and validate application changes.

- Coordinate with onsite/offshore teams and business stakeholders for issue resolution and delivery.

- Participate in modernization, migration, and enhancement initiatives involving legacy mainframe applications.

- Ensure application performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.

Required Technical Skills :

1. Unisys Mainframe :

- Strong hands-on experience with Unisys Mainframe systems.

- Experience working with Unisys ClearPath / MCP environment is highly desirable.

- Understanding of Unisys mainframe architecture, application processing, batch execution, and system utilities.

- Experience troubleshooting and supporting legacy Unisys applications.

2. Programming :

- Strong experience in COBOL programming.

- Good understanding of structured programming, file handling, data processing, and error handling.

- Experience developing and modifying complex COBOL programs.

- Ability to analyze existing legacy code and understand application dependencies.

3. Database & Data Handling :

- Good understanding of database concepts and SQL.

- Experience with database access from mainframe applications.

- Knowledge of relational databases and data manipulation.

- Experience working with sequential and indexed files.

- Understanding of file layouts, record structures, data validation, and batch data processing.

4. Batch Processing :

- Strong understanding of batch processing and job scheduling.

- Experience creating, modifying, monitoring, and troubleshooting batch jobs.

- Knowledge of JCL or equivalent Unisys job-control/scripting technologies.

- Ability to investigate job failures, abends, data issues, and dependency failures.

5. Production Support :

- Experience providing L2/L3 production support for critical applications.

- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.

- Experience with incident, problem, and change management processes.

- Ability to perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

- Experience working in SLA-driven production environments.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience with Unisys ClearPath MCP.

- Knowledge of ALGOL or other Unisys-specific programming technologies.

- Experience with Unisys databases such as DMSII.

- Knowledge of Unisys transaction-processing environments.

- Experience with application modernization or migration from legacy Unisys platforms.

- Exposure to integration with distributed systems, APIs, or middleware.

- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

- Experience working with tools such as Git, ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalent.

- 5+ years of overall Mainframe Development experience.

- Strong hands-on experience in Unisys Mainframe.

- Strong COBOL development experience.

- Experience in batch processing and production support.

- Good database and SQL knowledge.

- Experience in application maintenance, enhancements, debugging, and incident resolution.

- Experience working in enterprise-scale applications and development teams.

Nice to Have :

- Experience in banking, insurance, healthcare, retail, or other large enterprise environments.

- Exposure to legacy system modernization.

- Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

- Knowledge of DevOps/release-management practices for legacy applications.
