Job Title : Head of Platform Engineering
Reporting to : Chief Product & Technology Officer
Location : Pune - Hybrid-Working : 3 days in office, 2 days from home.

The Head of Engineering will be a pivotal part of our Engineering Leadership Team - overseeing our teams in Pune and Bengaluru and working alongside the leadership team in the UK.
This role will include an element of travel, as needed.
Additionally, this role will serve as a Site Leader taking ownership of wider company initiatives and operations in partnership with the Head of People.
The successful candidate will lead the team whilst focusing on addressing the challenges of technology, communication, structure, coordination, cultural alignment, operational efficiency, developer experience, team morale, collaboration, and consumer-centricity.
THE ROLE :
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Head of Engineering to lead and support our engineering teams.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for co-shaping our engineering strategy, fostering technical excellence, and ensuring our teams are empowered to deliver scalable, high-quality software at pace.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing best-in-class engineering practices, enabling a culture of high performance, innovation, and accountability.
This leader must be able to inspire teams, drive transformation through influence, and create an environment where engineers thrive and grow.

ABOUT YOU :
- Proven experience building & leading high-performing engineering teams in a technology-driven organisation.
- Demonstrate strong resilience with proven experience driving change management in large teams (50+) and ability to effectively manage conflict resolution as needed.
- A strong leader and mentor, capable of inspiring teams and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement whilst focusing on delivering quality.
- Deep expertise in software architecture, system design, and cloud-native development with proven experience developing high-throughput, low-latency applications.
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Python, React.JS etc).
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Experience with observability, distributed tracing, and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry).
- A strong advocate for DevOps culture and automation, with experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and reliability engineering best practices.
- Desired experience working in the Payments domain, with an understanding of compliance, transaction flows, and regulatory requirements (ISO27001, PCI-DSS 4.0 and Open Banking APIs).
