We are seeking an experienced Android Automotive OS (AAOS) Developer with strong hands-on expertise in the Automotive domain, vehicle signals, and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems. The ideal candidate will work on building and integrating applications directly on Android Automotive OS, including solutions integrated with Google Automotive Services (GAS) such as Google Maps, Play Store, and Google Assistant. This role requires deep technical understanding of AAOS architecture, automotive communication protocols, and collaboration with cross-functional teams including system architects, hardware teams, and OEM stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities :
Android Automotive / AAOS Development :
- Design, develop, and maintain applications on Android Automotive OS (AAOS)
- Build in-car infotainment (IVI) applications optimized for automotive use cases
- Customize and extend Android frameworks and system services for automotive requirements
- Work on AAOS system components, car APIs, and vehicle HAL integrations
- Ensure performance, stability, and safety compliance of automotive applications
Google Automotive Services (GAS) :
- Integrate and support Google Automotive Services (GAS) including: Google Maps Google Play Store Google Assistant
- Work with Google guidelines and certification requirements for GAS-enabled vehicles
- Collaborate with OEMs and Google partners to ensure compliant GAS implementations
- Troubleshoot GAS-related issues across different vehicle platforms
Automotive Domain & Vehicle Integration :
- Work with vehicle signals such as speed, fuel level, gear status, climate controls, etc.
- Integrate AAOS applications with vehicle data using Car APIs and VHAL
- Understand and implement vehicle communication protocols, including: CAN LIN FlexRay SOME/IP (preferred)
- Collaborate with hardware and middleware teams to ensure seamless vehicle communication
Collaboration & SDLC :
- Work closely with UI/UX teams to design driver-safe and intuitive interfaces
- Collaborate with embedded, middleware, QA, and system integration teams
- Participate in Agile ceremonies (Sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)
- Support debugging, root cause analysis, and issue resolution during development and integration phases
- Contribute to technical documentation and design specifications
Technical Skills (Mandatory) :
Android & AAOS :
- 6+ years of experience in Android development
- Strong hands-on experience with Android Automotive OS (AAOS)
- Proficiency in Java / Kotlin
- Strong understanding of Android Framework, AOSP, system services, and HAL layers
- Experience working with Car APIs, Vehicle HAL (VHAL), and automotive extensions
