AmpsTek - Data Engineer - SQL/BigQuery

Job Description :

We are looking for a skilled Data Analyst / Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in SQL, Google BigQuery, and Python to enable data-driven decision-making and build scalable analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, and engineering teams to design, develop, and optimize reliable data pipelines, analytical models, and dashboards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of data modeling and cloud data platforms, and the ability to translate business requirements into efficient data solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Data Engineering & Pipeline Development :

- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using cloud-based data platforms.

- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, transform, and validate large datasets.

- Implement best practices for data quality, data governance, and performance optimization.

- Work with structured and semi-structured data sources.

Data Analysis & Business Support :

- Write complex and optimized SQL queries using joins, CTEs, window functions, and subqueries.

- Analyze large datasets to generate actionable insights for business stakeholders.

- Build and maintain analytical datasets and reporting layers in Google BigQuery.

- Support ad-hoc analysis and executive reporting requirements.

BigQuery & Cloud Data Management :

- Manage BigQuery datasets, tables, partitions, and clustering strategies.

- Optimize query performance and control costs in BigQuery.

- Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to ensure scalable and secure data architecture.

Python & Automation :

- Use Python for data analysis, automation, and pipeline orchestration.

- Develop reusable scripts for data validation, monitoring, and reporting.

- Work with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and related data tools.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement :

- Partner with business, product, and engineering teams to understand data needs.

- Translate business requirements into technical data solutions.

- Document data models, pipelines, and analytical processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Skills :

- Strong expertise in SQL (complex joins, window functions, CTEs, query optimization).

- Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery (datasets, partitions, clustering, cost optimization).

- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation.

- Experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud data platforms.

- Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and analytics engineering concepts.

Professional Skills :

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent communication skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred / Good to Have :

- Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Cloud Composer, or similar).

- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI).

- Knowledge of GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, or Dataflow.

- Experience in analytics engineering or modern data stack environments.
