Overall Purpose of the Role :

The Solution Architect ATS Subsystem is responsible for developing and delivering the ATS (Automatic Train Supervision) Subsystem in line with the project roadmap, as agreed with the ATS Project Leader. The role ensures robust system architecture, optimized software design, and successful delivery aligned with Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) commitments.

Key Responsibilities :

Architecture & Design :

- Design the distribution architecture of multiple servers and ATS applications for assigned projects

- Architect ATS applications by reusing existing ATS product components and designing project-specific software solutions

- Define and design data configuration required for project execution

- Ensure alignment with design authority and arbitrate key technical design decisions

Development & Integration :

- Support development and system integration activities during integration phases

- Define and agree on the Product Development Roadmap in collaboration with the ATS Project Leader

- Support Make-or-Buy analysis and technical arbitration

- Contribute to R&D activities by providing project return-of-experience

Project & Team Management :

- Provide QCD estimations and support gap analysis and quotations

- Manage ATS project development teams (internal and external) ensuring QCD commitments

- Organize and lead ATS Project Design Reviews

- Alert management on risks impacting QCD delivery

Quality, Configuration & Validation :

- Manage project requirements with full traceability from customer requirements to software and hardware implementation

- Ensure each requirement is validated through V&V across the development lifecycle

- Manage ATS product configuration, change management, and deliveries

- Establish configuration baselines, conduct configuration reviews, and lead the Change Control Board (CCB)

- Support definition of product validation strategies with ATS Project V&V Leader

Process & Continuous Improvement :

- Apply and contribute to continuous improvement of product development processes, tools, and methodologies

- Promote design-to-cost approaches to reduce solution unit cost

Qualifications :

Education :

- BE / B.Tech / M.Tech

- 12 to 15 years of experience in software design and development

Technical Skills & Experience :

Mandatory :

- Strong experience in software architecture and industrial system development

- Expertise in :

1. C++, Multithreading

2. Design Patterns

3. COM / DCOM

4. XML, UML, SQL

5. OPC

- Requirement management and end-to-end traceability

- Experience with V-Cycle, SysML, and structured development methodologies

Optional / Good to Have :

- C#, SQL Server

- Debugging tools: WinDBG, Visual Studio Debugger

- Knowledge of signalling systems: Interlocking, ATC, ATS

- Railway signalling technologies : IP networks, embedded systems, XML technologies

- Network protocols: OPC, SOAP, 0MQ
