Summary of Position :
- This role is part of Alcon's Information Technology function, a team that delivers cutting-edge technology solutions to Alcon associates and customers to help our people and the world see brilliantly.
- The Associate is responsible for developing and maintaining the necessary technology service for the Quality Control applications labvantage LIMS, Empower, SDMS etc.
- This includes project and enhancements implementation and functional consulting to the operational support team.
- This position is expected to liaise with key business stakeholders (e.g., Analytical Science & Technology, Manufacturing, R&D, Quality Assurance and Quality Control Laboratories) to ensure clear communications and effective and compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Development, implementation, and maintenance of the Quality Control applications Labvantage LIMS, Empower, SDMS and other supporting applications in a GxP regulated environment (medical device).
- Program, implement, and test collection of new modifications and standard functionalities.
- Debug and resolve a variety of issues (bugs, performance, and user) by reading trace files.
- Write technical design documents, solution summaries, operating procedures, change controls and manuals.
- Proven experience in life cycle application development with the ability to generate application development policies, standards, and procedures.
- Develop utilities, procedures, and documentation.
- Maintain application release control (version control).
- Support application installations and upgrades, including third party integration and hardware configuration.
- Ensure that relevant stakeholders engage in specification of new services and/or major upgrades to existing services.
- Ensure the overall user experience is considered when designing and deploying new solutions and services.
- Ensure consistency and traceability between user requirements, functional specifications, and testing & validation.
- Support validation and testing (IQ, OQ, PQ, UAT).
- Support end user training.
- Keep abreast with internal IT systems and documentation requirements, standards (including quality management and IT security).
- Keep abreast with industry best practices in leveraging technologies for the business and with regulatory environments/requirements if applicable.
- Take accountability to ensure adherence with Security and Compliance policies and procedures within Service Delivery scope.
- Support operations and ad-hoc requests and research.
Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications :
- 4 to 7 years Software Development experience.
- Experience in developing Quality Control Applications (labvantage LIMS, Waters Empower and/or SDMS will be a plus).
- 2+ Years of experience working with PL/SQL query.
- Proven experience in scripting languages like JAVA, Java script is a must.
- Proficient in Windows and UNIX operating systems.
- Good or Advance skills in writing SQL query.
- Experience developing new and updating reports in labvantage LIMS (Jaspersoft, Jasper).
- LIMS labvantage Java Server Pages (JSP).
- Knowledge of laboratory operations processes such as sample management, product testing, equipment testing, chromatography, environmental monitoring.
- Able to work effectively both alone and in team/cooperative development efforts.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Application implementation practices and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a demanding environment.
