As a Principal Product Manager

You'll play a key role in setting the near term goals and long term strategy for the whole product.

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Principal Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for a significant sub-group within our organization.

This role demands a visionary leader with a deep technical understanding, strong business acumen, and a proven track record of delivering successful enterprise data products from ideation to launch.

The Principal Product Manager will be responsible for defining the long-term product roadmap, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring product managers to foster a high-performing product organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Product Vision & Strategy : Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to develop a compelling product vision, comprehensive roadmap, and detailed product designs.

- Product Execution : Partner with a team of 20+ engineers to meticulously plan and execute the product roadmap, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.

- Sub-group Product Leadership : Drive the overarching product strategy for the assigned sub-group, aligning it with company-wide objectives and market opportunities.

- Mentorship & Guidance : Mentor and guide Product Managers by providing deep insights into the overall product strategy, sharing high-level insights from formative research, identifying market gaps, and leveraging cutting-edge technical advancements.

- Long-term Roadmap Ownership : Drive the broader product roadmap with a strategic view extending beyond the next 12 months, anticipating future market needs and technological shifts.

- Cross-functional Collaboration : Lead and facilitate cross-functional collaboration efforts, ensuring seamless communication and alignment between product, engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams.

- Market & Customer Insight : Continuously gather and analyze market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive landscape to inform product decisions and identify new opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience

Product Management & Leadership Skills

- Extensive Product Management Experience : 15+ years of experience in a Product Development setup, with at least 8+ years of direct experience in Product Management roles.

- Enterprise Data Product Expertise : 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Product Manager specifically within the Enterprise Data Product domain.

- Full Product Lifecycle Management : Proven experience in full-cycle Product Management, from ideation and discovery through development, launch, and post-launch adoption, with a strong track record of delivering successful products and features.

- Cross-functional Leadership : Demonstrated experience in leading and driving cross-functional collaboration efforts, fostering a cohesive and productive environment.

- Strategic Thinking : Ability to think rigorously, make hard decisions, and manage trade-offs effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Business Acumen : Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret market dynamics, identify business opportunities, and translate them into product strategies.

- Communication & Presentation : Excellent articulation and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex technical and business topics to diverse stakeholders (engineers, customers, executives, etc.) in both written and verbal forms.

- Adaptability & Learning : Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and a strong curiosity to learn the domain at a deep level.

- Autonomy & Responsibility : Demonstrated high level of autonomy and responsibility, while actively encouraging and fostering a healthy work environment.

Technical Skills

- Deep Technical Understanding : Deep technical understanding of product development processes and the complexities involved in building scalable and robust software products.

- Data Ecosystem Knowledge : Deep understanding of :

1. Databases : Relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra), Data Warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).

2. Data Processing Platforms : Big Data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop), streaming platforms (e.g., Apache Kafka), ETL/ELT tools.

3. Analytics Tools : Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), data visualization, reporting frameworks.

4. Machine Learning Platforms : Understanding of ML lifecycle, MLOps, common ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), and their application in enterprise products.

5. API Design & Integration : Familiarity with API design principles (REST, GraphQL) and experience with integrating various systems and data sources.

6. Cloud Technologies : Understanding of major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data and analytics services.

7. Software Development Lifecycle : Solid grasp of modern software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and DevOps practices.

Education & Certifications :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

- Master's degree or MBA is a plus.

- Relevant certifications in product management, agile methodologies, or cloud platforms are desirable.
